The Shop Around the Corner
Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan star as gift shop employees who barely get along with each other, secretly finding passion outside of work via letters each writes to an anonymous pen pal. It’s not giving anything away that their secret pen pals are actually each other. Nor that director Ernst Lubitsch managed to warmly layer this film with the graceful, charming humor that came to be known as “The Lubitsch Touch.”
