Fandom Fest Presents: Cosplay for a Cause Variety Showcase

Nerds from all fandoms unite for an unforgettable night of creativity, cosplay, and community at Proctors! Hosted and co-produced by Magical Lee, the “Cosplay for a Cause Variety Showcase” brings together talented fans for live performance acts and a cosplay fashion walk, all in support of mental health awareness.

The evening will also feature special guest appearances by Ashley, Dave, and Salíth, plus a limited selection of local vendors to explore.

All ticket proceeds benefit To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals struggling with depression, self-injury, and suicide.

RULES & POLICIES

• All event participants must have a ticket to Fandom Fest Presents: Cosplay For A Cause Variety Showcase. Event tickets are non-refundable.
• Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
• This event is rated TEEN. Severely offensive language and overt sexual humor are not permitted. The event team reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of material.
• Applications to participate will not be accepted after the deadline: August 18, 2025.
• Not permitted: any real weapons, any prop weapons that can cause bodily harm, hate symbols, or harassment of any kind. 
• Anything brought on stage must also be removed from the stage by the participant. If you will have a handler assisting with your costume or with set-up/take-down of performance pieces, you must inform the event team in advance. Handlers/helpers must also have a ticket to the event. If you require assistance but do not have someone to accompany you, please notify the team in advance and we will do our best to help. The application form includes sections for both of these items.
• Glitter, confetti, flower petals, or any materials requiring extensive cleanup are not allowed on stage.
• Any misconduct or violation of these rules may result in removal from the event.

THE TEAM

Lee, also known as Magical Lee, is an LGBTQ cosplay performer, DnD enthusiast, and all-around nerd. He has held many roles in the cosplay community, including contest competitor, judge, event host, co-coordinator, panelist, and fundraiser. Lee proudly co-led the cosplay department for the Proctors Fandom Fest convention during its three-year run. Both solo and in collaboration with loved ones, he has fundraised for organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Trevor Project, and Point of Pride. He is now excited to support To Write Love On Her Arms through the Cosplay For A Cause Variety Showcase.

When the final curtain fell on the convention, the Fandom Fest team remained committed to their community, evolving the event into a series of smaller, nerd-focused gatherings throughout the year. With this new chapter, Lee once again harnessed his passion to “cosplay for a cause” and partnered with Fandom Fest to launch this new event where cosplayers showcase their dazzling talents to benefit charity. He is honored to return to Proctors under the Fandom Fest banner—alongside the community he cherishes—to support those in need, educate, inspire, and demonstrate the true magic of cosplay.
